BETTY YOUNG ARKANSAS FOLKLORE COLLECTION

These materials consist of correspondence, research notes, and other documents that relate to Betty Young's course at the University of Central Arkansas, Myth and Romance, and her participation in the American Place‑Name survey conducted in the late 1970s.  Betty Young was an associate professor of English at the University from 1964 to 1984.  She is retired and resides in Conway.    

 

Arrangement

This collection has 16 files and 3 card storage boxes containing index cards.  Files 1‑6 pertain to Young's Myth and Romance course while files 7‑16 are concerned with the Place- Name survey and are in Box 1.  Boxes 2 and 3 contain old sayings and remedies, and Box 4 has city place names filed alphabetically.
