Diana Sherwood Papers

  The papers of Arkansas freelance writer and journalist, Diana Sherwood (Beulah Sherwood Smade Hagg), consist of personal/business related correspondence; articles, stories, etc., which had been submitted for publication; and various newspaper clippings, memorabilia and miscellaneous items.

 

            Ms. Sherwood was born November 6, 1876; in Manistie County, Michigan to Charlotte Elizabeth Smade (her father's name was not available at this writing).  Ms. Sherwood married L. W. Hagg in 1903, and they had a daughter, Shirley Mathilde Hagg (Mrs. Leland Gunn).  There are two grandchildren, Leland Gunn, Jr., and Diana Green.

 

            Ms. Sherwood was the sister of the prominent Arkansas writer Ms. Bernie Babcock.  Ms. Sherwood died February 16, 1953.
