Betty Lynne Hunter-Fowler was born in Wynne, Arkansas, and is married to Bill Fowler.  She spent most of her life in the Little Rock area as a popular musician and television entertainer.  She has entertained women’s clubs, civic groups, and public audiences professionally since she was eighteen years old.

Mrs. Fowler graduated from Little Rock Junior College, a UALR predecessor, in 1944.  She began her illustrious entertainment career on a statewide radio show.  Consequently, she became a television performer in the early 1950’s when Little Rock’s first UHF station, KRTV, signed on.  She is best known for her children’s show, “Betty’s Little Rascals” which began May 1955.  Additionally, she also co-hosted “Little Rock Today” show with Bud Campbell.

Along with these many responsibilities, Mrs. Fowler maintained a very rigorous schedule with her band “The Betty Fowler Four”.  She was also the musical director for the Miss Arkansas Pageant (1960-1984), musical director for Broadway musical produced by the Community Theater, musical director for the Farkleberry Follies presented by the Arkansas Press Association, and musical director for the Gridiron produced by the Arkansas Bar Association.

Today, she has a recording studio where she voice coaches and makes accompaniment tapes for singing.  Betty Fowler is one of Arkansas’ greatest media celebrities and she will forever be treasured and acknowledged for her many contributions to her fans and her profession.
